Its 100% biodegradableCoir pots are made out of coconut coirfiber bounded together and modeled to an attractive shape. The coirmaterial allows air and water to move through the pot whilecontaining soil. So the plants don''t have to be pulled from thepot at planting time. Plants grown in coir in the green house havebetter root structures than those in plastic pots. Air pruning ofthe roots occurs ones they grow through the walls of the pot,therefore other smaller roots develop as well. There is no roottwirling, no root bound plants, no need to manipulate the root ballbefore planting to help it grow, and therefore no root shock. onesplanted in the ground or in a larger pot, air pruned roots growagain, and robust roots growth has been seen after just 10 days.There are very popular among nurseries due to the convenience ofreplanting without removing the pot. Loss of root will result,disturbance continuous growth over the newly established field.
The coir pot is easily biodegradableand transforms into organic matter in due course. Containersimpermeable to roots all course deformation to the roots. Theseverity of this depends on the shape of the pot and thedevelopment of the plants. The most common problem is coiling ofroots, roots gathering in corners, roots growing upwards, crushedroots etc... When plants are grown in a coir pot, the roots quicklypenerate the pot walls. Contact with the air stops the roots fromgrowing, root buds start to appear and secondary roots start todevelop throughout the pot. This phenomenon is known as "aerialroot pruning". The volume of the pot is used 100% by dence networkof root hais of the plant. In containers with impermeable walls, afew very long roots use all the area around the pot. When a plantgrown in a coir pot is planted or re-potted, without removing thepot, the dormant root buds set during aerial containment areimmediatly activated. There is no shock from transplanting, thisdifference is particulary marked when ground conditions aredifficult (cold, drought, advese season etc...). There is no rootdeformity in the root system, the plant establishes easily andsettles into the soil better. This is particulary important forperennials.
